How this hub works

Three definitions decide who appears on each list. All three are public and stated on every ranking page.

Christian affiliation
The school reports a Christian religious affiliation to the U.S. Department of Education. Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, and non-denominational schools all qualify. Jewish, Unitarian Universalist, and Latter-day Saints institutions are separate and do not appear here.
Bible college
At least 30% of the school's degrees are in theology and religious vocations, and the school awards an undergraduate theology credential. Seminaries that only award graduate degrees stay off the Bible college lists.
Online
The school reports at least one program as fully online in the College Scorecard field-of-study file. The online Christian college list also requires at least 10 programs reported fully online, so a single online course does not qualify a campus school.

Which Christian college list should you use?

The four lists share the same federal figures. They differ in who is eligible. Start with the question you are actually asking.

How to choose a Christian college

The ranking narrows the field. These six checks decide whether a school is right for you.

01

Mission and faith fit

Read the mission statement and doctrinal statement. Ask whether online students sign a statement of faith, attend chapel, or complete a church or ministry placement. A school can be Christian and still be a poor fit for your tradition.

02

Accreditation

Institutional accreditation is the baseline. Teaching, nursing, counseling, and ministry programs can also hold programmatic accreditation. Confirm both before you apply, and check the agency at CHEA or the College Scorecard.

03

Online delivery

A school can offer online programs without offering your major online. Open the program page and confirm the plan of study, any required intensives, and whether clinical or ministry placements can be arranged near you.

04

Cost after aid

Use average net price, not sticker tuition. Ask whether online students pay in-state or out-of-state tuition, whether campus fees are removed, and which Christian scholarships or church matching grants apply to online students.

05

Transfer credit

Ask for a transfer evaluation in writing. Bible institute credit, church-based training, and community college credit are handled differently by different schools. The school's evaluation is the number that counts.

06

Community and support

Online Christian colleges vary in how much community they build. Ask about cohort sizes, live class requirements, academic advising, career services, and how online students access chapel, mentoring, or ministry opportunities.

The ranking can tell you who finishes, what students pay, and what graduates earn. It cannot tell you whether a school's faith tradition, chapel rhythm, or community is right for you. Read the school's own material before you apply.

Christian college questions

Short answers to the questions people ask before they apply.

Are Christian colleges accredited?

The schools on these lists are in the College Scorecard, which covers institutions that participate in federal student aid. That requires recognized accreditation. A theology or ministry program can also hold programmatic accreditation. Ask the school which agency accredits the degree you want.

Is an online Christian degree legitimate?

It is legitimate when the school is accredited and the online program is the same program the school awards on campus. Online delivery changes where you study, not who awards the degree. Ask whether the program requires in-person intensives or a local ministry placement.

What is the difference between a Bible college and a Christian university?

A Bible college puts theology, biblical studies, and ministry at the center of the curriculum. A Christian university usually offers those programs alongside business, nursing, education, and other majors. Bible colleges tend to be smaller and more ministry-focused. Christian universities tend to offer a broader catalog and a larger online division.

Do online Christian colleges require chapel or a statement of faith?

It varies by school. Some require chapel attendance, a statement of faith, or a church reference for online students. Others do not. Ask the admissions office before you apply, and read the school's doctrinal statement if that matters to you.

Can I use federal aid at a Christian college?

Yes, if the school participates in federal student aid. File the FAFSA and ask the aid office how grants, loans, and work-study apply to online students. Christian colleges also award their own scholarships, church matching grants, and ministry discounts.

How are these rankings different from other Christian college lists?

Every list here is ordered by one published figure from the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard. There is no composite score, no editorial adjustment, and no pay-to-rank placement. Each ranking page states its filters and its figure, and sponsored schools appear in a separate, labeled section.

We won't invent a list.

If the data isn't there, the ranking isn't either.
